So what is Intellectual Property (IP)?

So what is Intellectual Property (IP)?

Intellectual Property is a field of law concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Each of these four areas of law protects different types of creations by giving their owners certain exclusive rights for set periods of time. In the next few posts, we will define what each of these protections is and look at what types of creations each protects. We will also look at their legal underpinnings and how they can be used individually or collectively to allow their owners to profit from the creations. Intellectual property provides exclusive rights that are useful and have value.
